A former Miami-Dade County waste management employee, Clifton Silimon, pleaded guilty Monday to 79 criminal charges tied to a county-wide theft spree.
Silimon, 52, was sentenced to 15 years in prison followed by five years of probation. The judge warned him that violating probation could result in a sentence “between 404 months and 1040 years.”
Detectives and prosecutors said Silimon spent about a year stealing rims from dozens of vehicles across the county. Investigators eventually connected him to the crimes using a tracking device that had been installed in his government-issued work vehicle.
