The new owners of Fort Lauderdale’s Galleria Mall are exploring a redevelopment plan that could include nine 30-story towers, a 170-room hotel, and hundreds of affordable housing units under the state’s Live Local Act, project leaders confirmed Monday.
The 1980s-era mall was sold last month to a consortium of real estate and development firms led by Russell Galbut, a Miami Beach-based developer and founder of investment and development companies known for creating mixed-use communities across Florida and the U.S.
Plans for the Galleria’s dramatic transformation have been submitted to the city of Fort Lauderdale for review.
