The former village clerk of Alexis, Illinois, Jenny McKeown, is facing forgery and theft charges, according to Warren County Court documents.
McKeown faces two felony counts: theft of government property and forgery. Court records allege she knowingly obtained unauthorized control over government property of the Village of Alexis, U.S. currency valued between $10,000 and $100,000, with the intent to permanently deprive the village of its use.
The documents also state that between May 2022 and January 2025, McKeown “made or altered documents apparently capable of defrauding another.”
She surrendered to law enforcement and was released pending further court proceedings. McKeown is scheduled for her first court appearance on Oct. 30 in Warren County Court.
