Gulf System Brings Humid Air and Light Rain Chances Today

SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) — A system moving inland from the Gulf is spreading rain and humid air across parts of northeastern Louisiana, eastern Arkansas, and southern Mississippi. While most areas will stay dry, there’s a slight 20% chance of rain through the afternoon and early evening.

Temperatures will feel cooler overall, with highs reaching the low to mid-80s in the eastern half of the region and the mid to upper 80s in the west. Increased humidity will make it feel warmer, with heat index values in the upper 80s to lower 90s.

Rain chances will stay minimal through Tuesday and Wednesday, but a cold front expected Tuesday evening will usher in more fall-like conditions by Thursday. Temperatures will then drop into the low to mid-80s, with overnight lows in the 50s and lower dew points making the air feel much more comfortable.

Heading into the weekend, temperatures will hover around or slightly above seasonal averages in the mid-80s, keeping conditions pleasant and mild.

Meanwhile, in the tropics, one storm system shows a high chance of developing into a tropical storm within seven days and a medium chance within the next two days. If named, it will become Tropical Storm Jerry.
