LYON COUNTY (KSNT) – A semi-truck driver from Illinois was killed in a highway crash near Emporia early Monday morning.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 12:15 a.m. on Nov. 24 on the southbound I-35 entry ramp leading to I-335. Troopers said the driver was heading south on I-35 and approaching the interchange when he took a curve too quickly.
The truck went off the road, struck three posts and overturned before coming to rest in a nearby ditch.
The driver, identified as 64-year-old Pedro Ocampo of Berwyn, Illinois, died at the scene. He was the only person in the vehicle.
