Illinois man killed after vehicle falls from lift in Wauconda, police say

A 37-year-old man died Monday morning in Wauconda after a vehicle fell from a lift at a business on West Liberty Street, according to police.

The incident occurred around 8:52 a.m. at 398 W. Liberty St. When officers and firefighters arrived, they found the man pinned beneath the front end of the vehicle. Fire crews were able to lift the vehicle, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not yet been released.

Investigators said the vehicle had been raised about five feet off the ground when the rear end slipped off the lift. Before the man could get out from underneath, the front end also came off, trapping him beneath it.
