Illinois Woman Found Dead at Disney World Hours After Being Reported Missing

A 31-year-old Illinois woman, Summer Equitz of Naperville, was found dead at Disney World’s Contemporary Resort hotel in Florida in what authorities are calling an apparent suicide.

Equitz had been reported missing from her Illinois home just hours before her body was discovered. According to the Orange County Medical Examiner, she died from multiple blunt impact injuries, and authorities are continuing their investigation.

Social media rumors initially claimed she was hit by the monorail, but officials confirmed this was false. Disney’s monorail service, which runs through the hotel, was temporarily halted while emergency responders attended the scene.

Equitz, a self-described Disney superfan, had flown to the park without notifying her family, according to a now-deleted post by a relative. She shared her passion for Disney online, including a 2021 photo with CEO Bob Iger, and had expressed a dream to play Belle from Beauty and the Beast.

Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding her death.
