Illinois woman sentenced to 12 1/2 years for burglary and meth charges

DANVILLE, Ill. — Kylie Hamer, formerly of Westville, Illinois, has been sentenced to 12 1/2 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to burglary and unlawful possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver. After serving her prison term, she will complete 18 months of mandatory supervised release.

The charges stem from two separate incidents. On July 16, 2024, Hamer was found leaving a boarded-up house in Georgetown, Illinois, that was undergoing rehabilitation. The property owner discovered her inside and notified police. Hamer admitted she was looking for a jewelry box and had entered by kicking in a plywood covering on the back door.

In another case, on Oct. 2, 2024, agents with the Vermilion Metropolitan Enforcement Group arrested Hamer for dealing about 30 grams of methamphetamine. The Illinois State Police Crime Lab confirmed the substance as meth.

State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy thanked the Georgetown Police Department and the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group for their work in the case. Lacy said the sentence reflects their shared commitment to keeping Vermilion County safe.
