Indiana Teen Arrested in Florida on Multiple Theft Charges, Including Motorcycle and Golf Cart

An 18-year-old from Indiana was arrested in Florida after authorities linked him to several theft-related incidents.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said deputies took Liam Ferris Engel of Lebanon, Indiana, into custody last Friday after he allegedly tried to steal a motorcycle and a golf cart.

According to NBC Miami, a witness spotted Engel inside a pickup truck and alerted authorities. Engel ran when deputies confronted him but was later located riding a golf cart he claimed to be renting. Investigators confirmed the cart had been stolen from a home on Hawksbill Lane in Sugarloaf Key.

Security camera footage reportedly shows Engel attempting to steal a motorcycle, tying him to multiple thefts in the area.

Deputies responded around 9:40 p.m. to a home on North Johnson Drive, where they found Engel in possession of motorcycle keys. The sheriff’s office said he dropped the keys and tried to kick them under a patrol vehicle.

Engel is now facing several charges, including grand theft, burglary, attempted grand theft, and tampering with evidence.
