‘Intoxicated’ Florida Couple Arrested After Baby Nearly Dropped, Toddler Wanders Toward Traffic at Marina

A Monday night outing at a Florida Keys marina spiraled into chaos after bystanders stepped in to stop an allegedly intoxicated couple from leaving with three small children.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 35-year-old Richard Lamartine Greene Honore and 36-year-old Candace Cheynna Yambo, both of Tavernier, following a disturbance at Mangrove Marina on Florida Avenue.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded around 8:41 p.m. on Dec. 29, 2025. Witnesses told deputies the couple arrived in a motorized, golf cart-style vehicle and appeared heavily intoxicated while caring for three very young children—an infant just a few months old, a 1-year-old, and a 2-year-old.

Concern grew as bystanders realized the adults’ condition and tried to prevent them from driving away. During the confrontation, a fight reportedly broke out.

Witnesses described a dangerous scene as the pair attempted to get service at the bar. At one point, one of the toddlers allegedly wandered into the street unattended. Others reported that Yambo nearly dropped the infant amid the commotion.

Deputies arrived and confirmed that none of the children appeared to have suffered serious physical injuries. The Florida Department of Children and Families was notified immediately to ensure the children’s safety.

Both adults were taken into custody at the scene. Honore faces charges including child neglect, resisting arrest, and property damage, while Yambo has been charged with child neglect and resisting arrest.
