The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services reported that the boy, born on September 8, will be placed in foster care until a permanent family is found.
Since the law was enacted, 78 infants have been surrendered through the program over the past two decades. This is the fourth baby placed into Safe Haven care in 2025.
Under Iowa’s Safe Haven Act, a baby must be 90 days old or younger and can be surrendered at designated locations such as hospitals, police stations, or fire stations.
