Quad Cities, IA/IL – Eastern Iowa and western Illinois residents should plan for a cooler, wetter weekend as scattered showers and thunderstorms move through the area, the National Weather Service reports.
Overnight lows will dip into the low 60s, with rain chances varying widely — from 20% to as high as 70% in some locations. Certain areas could experience storms with a 50% to 60% chance of activity. Daytime highs will remain seasonable, sitting in the mid-70s to low 80s, but nighttime temperatures will slide into the upper 50s for a noticeable chill.
The best window for rainfall runs from Friday night through Sunday evening. Showers will stay scattered, so not every location will see precipitation. Forecasts call for a 20% to 40% chance of rain Friday and Saturday, climbing to around 50% on Sunday in some communities.
Cooler air will settle in as the weekend progresses. Expect overnight lows between 58 and 62 degrees and highs holding steady between 75 and 85 degrees. Forecasters urge residents to keep an eye on local updates, particularly if planning outdoor events, since showers and storms could develop quickly.
