PINCKNEYVILLE, Ill. (WSIL) — A 35-year-old man from Bluford was found dead in Pinckneyville City Lake over the weekend after attempting to swim to a drifting boat.
According to the Pinckneyville Police Department, a 36-year-old Mt. Vernon man launched his boat into the lake at 6:15 a.m. on September 27. The boat began drifting into open water, prompting Jedidiah Loman to swim from the ramp toward it.
Multiple agencies responded to reports of a man in the water. A dive team later recovered Loman’s body from a section of the lake about 13 feet deep.
The Pinckneyville Fire Department, Perry County Sheriff’s Office, Pinckneyville Ambulance Service, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Conservation Police, Illinois State Police, Perry County Coroner’s Office, and MABAS Division Dive Team assisted in the investigation.
The circumstances surrounding Loman’s death remain under investigation.
