LaSalle County Teen Faces Assault and Firearm Charges After Streator Shooting

STREATOR, IL – A 17-year-old male was taken into custody Wednesday night after reports of gunfire in Streator, police said.

The Streator Police Department said officers responded around 7:45 p.m. October 1 to the 600 block of East Hickory Street following reports of shots fired. Evidence confirmed a gun had been discharged in the area.

Shortly afterward, an occupied vehicle arrived at the police department with damage consistent with being shot. Investigators identified and located a suspect in South Streator.

Police detained the juvenile male and brought him to the Streator Police Department for questioning. He faces preliminary charges of two counts of aggravated assault and one count of aggravated discharge of a firearm. The teen was later transported to the LaSalle County Juvenile Detention Center.

The Livingston County Sheriff’s Office assisted Streator police with the investigation. Authorities emphasized that all suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in court.
