Man and woman arrested after chop shop uncovered at NW Miami-Dade home

MIAMI-DADE, Fla. — A man and woman are facing charges after authorities discovered a chop shop allegedly operating out of a northwest Miami-Dade home, involving multiple stolen vehicles.

The suspects:

  • Jennifer Emelinda Roman-Troncoso, 39

  • Roberto Perrerra, 41

They were arrested Friday on four counts each of grand theft of a vehicle and one count each of operating, owning, or aiding and abetting a chop shop.

What happened:
Authorities were alerted after a stolen Ford F-350, taken on Nov. 24, was pinging at a home on Northwest 123rd Street. A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s detective arrived and saw Perrerra dismantling the pickup. He attempted to flee inside the house but was taken into custody. Roman-Troncoso, the tenant of the property, was also arrested.

What police found:

  • The F-350 mostly dismantled, with VIN matching the stolen vehicle.

  • Parts from a blue Ford F-250, stolen Nov. 24.

  • Black garbage bags containing:

    • Florida vehicle registrations for the F-350 and F-250

    • ID cards from State Farm and Geico insurance

    • Registration for a white Ford F-450, stolen Oct. 1, along with four South Carolina registrations for another F-450 stolen Oct. 23

All four vehicles were valued at over $40,000.

Both Roman-Troncoso and Perrerra were booked into jail.
