Man Arrested After Road Rage Incident Hospitalizes Woman in Parkland

A Coral Springs man was arrested this week following a road rage incident in Parkland that left a woman injured and hospitalized.

According to a Broward County Sheriff’s Office arrest report, 68-year-old Howard Elliot Seiler of Coral Springs was taken into custody on December 2. He faces charges of burglary with assault or battery, a felony, and misdemeanor battery.

Investigators said the incident occurred near the 9600 block of West Hillsboro Boulevard, where Seiler and the victim became involved in a road rage confrontation after the victim slowed to yield to bicyclists traveling eastbound.

The arrest report states that Seiler allegedly cut in front of the victim and “brake checked” her before stopping his vehicle in the roadway, blocking her path. When the victim could not drive around him, Seiler reportedly exited his vehicle and approached her car.

Authorities said the victim alleged that Seiler entered her vehicle through the open driver’s side door, grabbed her arms, and slammed the driver’s side door into her head as she tried to flee. The impact caused a large contusion to her forehead. She was transported to Coral Springs Medical Center for treatment.

A bystander who recorded the incident on video told police that Seiler appeared to be the aggressor. Investigators said the footage corroborated the victim’s account.

Police later located Seiler at a business on West McNab Road in Tamarac, where he was taken into custody without incident.

According to the affidavit, Seiler acknowledged being involved in the confrontation but initially said he did not remember closing the car door on the victim’s head. After reviewing the video, he admitted he was the person shown in the recording.

Seiler was taken to the Broward County Main Jail and later released after posting $15,000 bond.
