Man Arrested in Miami-Dade Machete Attack at 3rd-Floor Apartment

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 54-year-old man is in custody without bond after allegedly attacking another man with a machete at a Miami-Dade apartment.

Police responded shortly after 4:30 a.m. on August 10 to Northside Commons, 8301 NW 27 Ave., in the West Little River area, where several witnesses were inside a third-floor apartment during the incident.

According to police reports, Timothy James and the victim got into an argument over a stolen gun. During the altercation, James armed himself with a machete and attempted to strike the victim in the head. The victim blocked the blow, causing the machete to hit his left wrist. James then swung the machete again, striking the victim on the left side of the head near the temple.

James was arrested at Northside Station at approximately 5:15 p.m. on Thursday and booked about four hours later at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.

He faces a charge of second-degree felony attempted murder with a deadly weapon, and a judge denied him bond.
