Man Charged with Kidnapping After Forcing Woman to Drive at Knifepoint

A 22-year-old man has been charged with kidnapping after allegedly forcing a woman to drive him from Iowa City to Cedar Rapids at knifepoint, according to police.

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) — Authorities say Cameron Neuzil, 22, approached a woman from behind as she was leaving her apartment on Highway 6 around 4 p.m. Thursday.

The criminal complaint states that Neuzil pulled out a kitchen knife, threatened to kill her, and forced her into her car. During the drive, Neuzil allegedly struck the woman with the handle of the knife and grabbed her by the throat.

Investigators said the victim had an active restraining order against Neuzil. He is also facing burglary and sexual abuse charges stemming from a September 26 incident at the same location.

Police added that Neuzil tried to run from officers during his arrest and had to be tackled. He now faces an additional interference charge. Neuzil reportedly admitted to police that he knew they were looking for him.
