Man faces attempted murder charge after shooting in Miami-Dade

MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A 22-year-old man is facing several charges after a shooting in the West Little River neighborhood, according to arrest records.

Deputies said the incident happened on Oct. 11, when the victim was riding a scooter home and noticed a black Nissan Altima following him. The victim admitted to throwing a rock at the car’s windshield, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office report.

Investigators said Keyon Curington, who was a passenger in the Altima, fired shots at the victim near Northwest 86 Terrace and 23 Avenue.

Curington was arrested on Nov. 27 and booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center. He is charged with:

  • Second-degree attempted murder with a deadly weapon

  • Throwing a deadly missile

  • Evidence tampering

Curington appeared in bond court on Nov. 28, where a judge ordered him to stay away from the victim and denied bond on the attempted murder charge.

According to court records, his pre-trial detention hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at 9:30 a.m., and his arraignment is set for Dec. 29 at 9 a.m. Miami-Dade County Circuit Judge Lody Jean is assigned to the case.
