Man killed in crash that shut down NW 36th Street before Milam Dairy Road near Doral

A man died in a crash that shut down the eastbound lanes of Northwest 36th Street on Thursday morning near Doral, authorities said.

The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 6:10 a.m. just before Milam Dairy Road (Northwest 72nd Avenue).

According to a preliminary investigation, a male driver crashed into another vehicle and then hit a tree. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took him to a nearby hospital, where he later died. His name has not been released. The woman driving the other vehicle was not injured.

Video from the scene showed an SUV crushed against a fallen palm tree and heavy traffic delays as deputies redirected vehicles.

MDSO Traffic Homicide detectives are investigating the crash, and officials have not yet released details on what may have caused it.
