TAMPA, Fla. — A fatal shooting is under investigation in Tampa after a fight between two acquaintances turned deadly Thursday afternoon.
Police responded to the 4100 block of Charter Oak Court just after 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. When officers arrived, they found an adult man with gunshot wounds. He had already died and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to early findings, detectives believe the violence stemmed from an earlier altercation. They determined the victim and the shooter knew each other and had been involved in a physical fight shortly before the gun was fired.
Unlike cases where a suspect flees, the alleged shooter remained at the residence. Officers detained the individual as soon as they arrived.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances that led to the dispute.
