Man Shot During Armed Robbery Inside Miami Design District Store, Police Say

Police arrested three men after a shopper was robbed of a $22,000 gold chain and shot in the stomach inside the Supreme streetwear store in the Miami Design District, authorities said.

Miami police responded to an emergency call around 4:20 p.m. Saturday at the store located at 45 NE 41st St., which features a skate bowl suspended above the main floor, according to an arrest affidavit.

Officers found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. He briefly described the robbery before being transported to Jackson Memorial Hospital. While at the hospital, the victim told an investigator he had been shopping when three men approached him.

The victim said he recognized the men “because they are all from the Atlanta area and have had problems with each other,” the affidavit stated.

An argument followed. One of the men allegedly walked behind the victim, tore the gold chain from his neck, and ran.

As the victim chased him, another man shot him in the stomach, police said. The three suspects then fled in a white Mercedes-Benz driven by a fourth individual.

Detectives later located the vehicle at a dead-end section of Northeast 10th Avenue.

Police arrested Jamar McKay, who is accused of taking the gold chain, along with Omarion Phillips and the alleged getaway driver, Kevieon Smith, on Saturday night. The suspected gunman was not taken into custody at that time.

A Miami Police spokesperson did not respond Monday to requests for comment on whether the shooter remained at large.

McKay, 25, of Mobile, Alabama, faces one count of armed robbery. Phillips, 20, of Atlanta, is charged with one count of accessory after the fact. Smith, 21, of Riviera Beach, is charged with accessory after the fact and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Jail records show the men were being held at the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Monday afternoon
