Massachusetts Felon Sentenced for Second Firearm Offense While on Supervised Release

BOSTON, Mass. – A Rockland man has been sentenced in federal court for illegally possessing a firearm while on supervised release.

According to the Massachusetts Department of Justice, 40-year-old Lamont Boswell received 83 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, after pleading guilty in September 2025 to unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition as a convicted felon and violating the terms of his supervised release.

The incident occurred on April 2, 2025, when law enforcement conducted a wellness check and found Boswell passed out in his parked car. Inside, officers recovered a Smith & Wesson semi-automatic handgun, loaded with 13 rounds in the magazine and one in the chamber.

At the time, Boswell was under federal supervision following a 2021 conviction for being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, for which he had been sentenced to 57 months in prison and three years of supervised release. That prior offense also involved the illegal possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Fred M. Wyshak III of the Organized Crime & Gang Unit, with announcements made by U.S. Attorney Leah B. Foley and ATF Boston Special Agent in Charge Thomas Greco, and assistance from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Scituate Police Department.
