Miami-Dade landlord hit tenant with hammer over parking, sheriff’s office says

A Miami-Dade landlord struck his tenant with a hammer last month during a dispute over a vehicle parked on his property, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Kimber Mathew Long, 64, went to his tenant’s home on the morning of Dec. 20 and became involved in an argument over parking, an arrest affidavit states.

Authorities say Long armed himself with a hammer and attempted to damage the tenant’s motorcycle.

When the tenant tried to intervene, Long allegedly turned the hammer on him and began striking him, causing lacerations to the man’s head and arms, according to the affidavit.

Long was arrested Tuesday at his Cutler Bay home and faces one count of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon causing bodily harm, court records show.

As of Wednesday, he was being held on a $5,000 bond at the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to jail records
