Miami-Dade Publix fight ends with arrest after man hits woman with metal shelf

A fight at a Miami-Dade Publix escalated so severely that a man used a metal shelf to strike a woman, leading to an arrest.

According to Local 10 News, deputies arrested 20-year-old Climont Mann Thursday evening after the incident at the Colonial Plaza Shopping Center at 9510 SW 160th St., Palmetto Estates.

How it started
The disturbance began around 6 p.m. when two groups started arguing near the store entrance. A security guard told deputies the confrontation quickly turned physical. Video from the scene shows two women wrestling on the floor by the greeting card display, knocking over part of the shelf, and one woman losing her wig during the fight.

A witness said, “I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. They were arguing, but I never thought things would escalate so badly and so quickly. I am so glad that my children were not with me.”

Things got worse
During the melee, Mann — who was shirtless — picked up the dislodged metal shelf and allegedly hit people three times while the women continued fighting. Video shows him striking people on the ground.

By the time deputies arrived, the fight had spilled outside, with groups reportedly throwing plates and other items at each other. Both groups were banned from the store. Police have not disclosed the cause of the fight.

Mann, who lives about a mile from the Publix, was charged with aggravated battery, criminal mischief, and disorderly conduct. The criminal mischief charge was later dropped at bond court.

As of Friday, Mann was being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, with bond set at $5,150.
