Middle Tennessee Could See 1–2 Inches Of Rain By Saturday

The National Weather Service in Nashville predicts that widespread rainfall will move into Middle Tennessee late this week, with an increase in the likelihood of severe rain and thunderstorms.

Forecasters say there is a 60 to 80 percent probability of more than an inch of rain between Thursday and Saturday morning. There is also a 30 to 50 percent possibility that some areas will experience more than two inches, especially where thunderstorms cause locally stronger downpours.

Rain is most likely to fall Thursday night through Friday night; however, it may continue into early Saturday. Thunderstorms embedded in the rain may result in unequal rainfall totals, with some places receiving much more than others.

According to the National Weather Service, heavy rains may cause temporary roadway flooding and water ponding in low-lying or poorly draining regions. While widespread flooding is not inevitable, officials advised homeowners to be aware of shifting situations as projected specifics evolve.

Rainfall estimates show that the majority of Middle Tennessee will receive between 1 and 1.5 inches, with higher amounts possible farther east and southeast depending on storm activity.

The prediction may be particularly relevant for commuters, outdoor activities, and weekend travelers.

The National Weather Service warned that rainfall quantities could fluctuate in the coming days and urged citizens to check weather.gov/ohx for updates as the system approached.
