SHIAWASSEE COUNTY, Mich. — A 43-year-old man from Illinois died following a multi-vehicle crash on westbound I-69 in Shiawassee County on Oct. 26.
Deputies from the Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene around 6:26 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, near the Colby Lake Road overpass in Woodhull Township.
Investigators believe the crash began when a Ram 1500 swerved left to avoid hitting a Kia K4 and a Mitsubishi Outlander that were parked on the south shoulder of the roadway. The Ram then struck a guardrail, both parked vehicles, and the driver of the Outlander, who was standing outside his car.
Authorities said the victim, identified only as a 43-year-old Illinois resident, died at the scene. His name has not been released.
The Shiawassee County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the crash with assistance from LSW Emergency Services, Perry Area Fire, Owosso City Fire Rescue, Bath Township Fire, Michigan State Police, and Shiawassee County Central Dispatch.
