New York State Troopers Rescue Man from Burning Car

TOWN OF RAMAPO, N.Y. — Body camera footage shows New York State Troopers rescuing a man from a burning car.

Troopers report that at approximately 4:40 a.m., Troopers Derick Macaulay and Peter Pjetri responded to a one-car crash on the northbound side of the Parkway near Exit 12 in the Town of Ramapo, just north of the New York/New Jersey state line. When they arrived, they found a Subaru Crosstrek had struck a tree in the center median, with the engine compartment on fire.

The driver was injured and unable to move. Without hesitation, Troopers Macaulay and Pjetri pulled him to safety and then re-entered the vehicle to ensure no one else was inside. Moments later, the car became fully engulfed in flames.

The investigation revealed that the driver had struck a deer, lost control, and hit a tree. He suffered two fractured ankles and facial injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
