North Texas Faces Coldest Air of the Season as Lows Near Freezing

North Texas is preparing for its coldest air of the season, prompting the First Alert Weather Team to issue a First Alert Weather Day for Monday morning. Temperatures are expected to drop close to freezing, with some areas dipping into the upper 20s, marking a sharp shift from the recent mild conditions.

Residents are urged to protect pets, plants, and pipes ahead of the freeze. Monday afternoon will remain chilly and below average, with highs only reaching the mid-50s, though winds will ease compared to the weekend.

By Tuesday, a southerly breeze returns, helping temperatures rebound to around 70°F by Veterans Day afternoon. Morning lows will also start to rise. However, forecasters caution about an elevated fire danger, due to dry air and gusty winds.

Looking ahead, temperatures climb back into the lower 80s by late week before a pattern shift this weekend brings a chance of rain early, likely clearing by Sunday.
