FLORIDA — One person died and two others suffered serious injuries after a single-vehicle crash near Lake Wales on Friday afternoon, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said the crash happened around 12:55 p.m. at the intersection of State Road 60 and Tiger Lake Road. The vehicle involved overturned, prompting a response from sheriff’s deputies and local firefighters.
Authorities said one adult was pronounced dead at the scene. Two other people were injured and airlifted by helicopter to nearby hospitals for treatment. Their conditions have not been released.
State Road 60 was shut down in both directions Friday afternoon as emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators began examining the circumstances of the crash.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the investigation is ongoing and more information may be released as it becomes available.
