Over 3,000 without power in Central Illinois

CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) —Storms have left more than 3,000 people without power across Central Illinois.

According to Ameren Illinois, 1,823 customers in Rochester lost power around 7:30 p.m., and the utility is still assessing the cause as of 9 p.m. Sunday. In Macon County, 93 customers are affected, and in Jacksonville, 275 customers near Illinois College are without power.

City Water, Light and Power (CWLP) crews are responding to outages in Springfield. The largest outage affects over 800 customers on a circuit from the Cornell substation, running south of S. Grand Ave from Whittier to Douglas. Customers near Ash Street and Livingston Street may see power restored soon, but crews are addressing several other outages throughout the city.
