ALLEN COUNTY, Ohio — A 40-year-old man from Elida has died after being struck by a vehicle early Thursday morning in rural Allen County.
Crash Details

The incident occurred just after 4:30 AM on Napoleon Road near State Route 81.

A 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, traveling northbound, struck the pedestrian in the northbound lane.

The driver, 81-year-old Merl Hall of Lafayette, was not injured.

The pedestrian was identified as Cody Gear, 40, of Elida, who was pronounced dead at Lima Memorial Hospital.

The crash is under investigation by the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lima Post.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Lafayette Township Fire Department and EMS, and T&H Towing.
