Pedestrian killed in early-morning Thruway crash in Clarkstown

A pedestrian died after a crash on the New York State Thruway in Rockland County early Thursday morning, Dec. 18, according to police.

New York State Police said the fatal collision occurred around 4:58 a.m. on the southbound Thruway near Exit 14 in the town of Clarkstown.

Troopers responded to the scene along with fire and EMS crews. Authorities blocked the Exit 14 acceleration ramp while emergency personnel worked and investigators examined the area.

Police have not released additional details about the victim or what led up to the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.
