In a tradition unique to South Florida, Miami-Dade Mayor Daniella Levine Cava on Tuesday is set to pardon a pig.
During the ceremony, a pig named 6-7 will receive a “get out of caja china free” card.
Guests at Latin Cafe will get to enjoy spinach croquetas and freshly brewed cafecito.
“The Pig Pardon has become one of our favorite ways to open the holiday season,” said Eric Castellanos, owner of Latin Cafe 2000. “It captures the spirit of Miami — joyful, diverse, and rooted in traditions that bring people together. Each year, we’re proud to blend culture and compassion in a way only Miami can.”
Miami has long embraced its deep-rooted tradition of eating and serving pig during the holiday season.
