STORM WATCH: Heavy Snow, Sleet Could Dump Up to 10 Inches Across NJ

Snow is the main story tonight, with steady to occasionally heavy precipitation expected through the late evening and midnight.

Snow and sleet may combine at times, particularly later tonight, making travel slippery and difficult. Temperatures remain close or slightly below freezing, so anything that falls will stick, and gusty easterly winds will contribute to poor visibility.

The snow should have subsided by early Saturday morning, although there may still be treacherous patches. The rest of the weekend will be quieter, with clouds clearing on Saturday and milder air arriving Sunday into Monday, along with periods of rain.

Cooler, breezy conditions will resume early next week, followed by a quieter period until the new year.

Tonight: Widespread snow with periods of heavy snow possible, mixing with sleet at times. Temperatures hover around the upper-20s to near 30. Travel impacts likely.

Saturday: Snow ends early, then mostly cloudy. Chilly with highs in the low-to-mid 30s and lingering slick spots.

Sunday: Mostly cloudy with rain developing later in the day. Milder, with highs around 40.

Monday: Periods of rain and much milder. Highs climb into the upper-40s to low-50s.

Tuesday: Turning colder and breezy with partial sunshine. Highs in the mid-30s.
