Strong Winds, Rain Could Create Dangerous Conditions in South Florida on Monday

South Florida is starting the week with strong winds, cooler temperatures, and periods of rain that could create hazardous conditions across the region.

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 7 p.m. Monday for Broward and Miami-Dade counties. Sustained winds of 20 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are expected. The strongest winds will occur from the morning through mid-afternoon, potentially making travel difficult for high-profile vehicles.

According to the National Weather Service, the gusty conditions may also cause falling tree debris, while unsecured objects could be blown or tossed around.

Monday morning temperatures dipped into the 60s, with scattered rain developing in some areas. Cloud cover and passing showers will keep afternoon highs from rising much, with temperatures expected to top out in the mid-70s.

Dangerous conditions are also affecting beaches and marine areas. Officials warn that it is unsafe to swim due to rough surf. A High Surf Advisory is in effect for Fort Lauderdale beaches through 1 a.m., and a high risk of rip currents will persist along Atlantic beaches through Thursday evening.

Small craft advisories are in place for Atlantic waters and the Florida Keys, as rough seas continue to impact boating conditions.

Looking ahead, Tuesday morning will be cooler, with lows dropping into the low 60s and upper 50s inland. Coastal areas will see lows in the mid to upper 60s. Winds will ease slightly but remain breezy, with gusts up to 20 mph. Sunshine will increase, and highs will climb into the mid-70s.

Wednesday will bring milder conditions, with highs reaching the upper 70s as winds shift out of the east. The ocean breeze will help moderate temperatures, and winds will decrease to around 10 to 15 mph.

By late week and into the weekend, warmer weather returns. Overnight lows will hover near 70 degrees, while daytime highs rise into the low 80s. Spotty showers remain possible through Saturday and Sunday.
