Sunday sunshine and warmer temperatures

DECATUR, IL. (WAND) — An upper-level ridge continues to dominate today, bringing plenty of sunshine across central Illinois.

Afternoon temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 70s, while overnight lows will remain mild in the low 50s due to increasing cloud cover.

These clouds arrive ahead of a cold front moving in tomorrow, which could trigger light, isolated showers early in the morning, mainly west of I-55. Despite this, tomorrow should stay mostly quiet, with the cold front delivering more clouds and slightly cooler air rather than significant rain.

While rain chances midweek aren’t zero, they remain minimal, and any rainfall is unlikely to reach the ground. With dry air continuing to dominate into the week, drought conditions are expected to worsen with the next update.
