Teen shoots ex-girlfriend to death in Long Island home, then turns gun on himself but survives: cops

A teen fatally shot his ex-girlfriend inside his Long Island home before turning the gun on himself — and surviving, authorities said.

The unidentified 17-year-old shot his ex-girlfriend, Emily Finn, 18, inside his Nesconset home around 11:10 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

He then shot himself in the face, police said.

His parents called 911 after hearing the gunfire.

Finn was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The 17-year-old was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital in critical but stable condition, authorities said.

Police said he will be charged with second-degree murder and arraigned at a later date.

The investigation is ongoing, and the motive remains unclear.
