Three people were arrested in connection with two separate theft investigations involving a vehicle break-in in Suffern and a work van burglary in Spring Valley, police said.
In the first case, Spring Valley officers assisted the Suffern Police Department with a grand larceny investigation that began Monday, Dec. 1, after items were stolen from a vehicle in Suffern, according to Spring Valley police on Thursday, Dec. 18.
Investigators said a credit card was among the stolen items and was later allegedly used, or an attempt was made to use it, in Spring Valley.
Through a joint investigation, police identified two suspects found in possession of the stolen credit card: Virgilio Alarcon-Tobar, 33, and Jose Villacinda-Najera, 18. Alarcon-Tobar was located on Wednesday, Dec. 10, and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and attempted petit larceny.
Villacinda-Najera was arrested three days later and charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, police said.
Both suspects were issued desk appearance tickets and are scheduled to return to court at a later date.
In an unrelated case, Spring Valley police responded on Thursday, Dec. 11, to a report of a past burglary at 37 Commerce St. The victim told officers that approximately $2,500 worth of tools were stolen from his work van during a break-in that occurred on Saturday, Dec. 6.
After an investigation, police identified the suspect as 21-year-old Yordi Palma-Jacinto. Officers located and arrested him later that evening.
Palma-Jacinto was charged with third-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny. He was arraigned in Spring Valley Justice Court and released on his own recognizance.
