Two Children Shot Inside Florida Home; Parents Arrested

FLORIDA — Two 4-year-old boys were hospitalized early Saturday after being shot inside their family’s home, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said they responded to AdventHealth East around 2 a.m. after the boys’ parents brought them in with gunshot wounds.

The children were later transferred to Arnold Palmer Children’s Hospital, where they remain in critical but stable condition.

After questioning both parents, deputies arrested them. The mother, Keishara Goodrum, faces two counts of child neglect resulting in great bodily harm, while the father, Maurice Wayne Bright Jr., was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Investigators said the parents claimed they didn’t witness the shooting but heard a loud “pop” inside the home.

The case remains under investigation.
