COLUMBUS, Ohio — Police are investigating the death of an infant discovered buried Monday afternoon in north Columbus.
Officers from the Columbus Division of Police responded to the 4000 block of Karl Road around 1:07 p.m., where they uncovered a shallow grave containing a deceased infant. The Franklin County Coroner’s Office pronounced the child dead at the scene.
Following the discovery, homicide detectives traced the case to a home on the city’s west side. There, they arrested two juveniles — a 17-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl.
According to police, the teens had hidden the girl’s pregnancy, and after the infant died, they buried the body at the Karl Road location. Both have been charged with involuntary manslaughter and abuse of a corpse.
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Columbus Police Homicide Unit at (614) 645-4730 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at (614) 461-TIPS (8477).
