Winter Weather Triggers Crashes and Closures Across West Virginia

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Hazardous weather has led to multiple vehicle crashes and traffic disruptions across West Virginia.

Dispatchers reported several traffic alerts to monitor this morning:

  • Wood County: A tractor-trailer crash on I-77 Northbound at mile marker 164 has closed the right lane.
  • Mason County: The southbound lane of Sixteen Mile Road on U.S. Route 35 has reopened, but the northbound lanes will remain closed for several more hours.
  • I-64 Westbound (Teays Valley to Hurricane): Traffic remains at a standstill after an accident in a parking lot just before Culloden.
  • U.S. 50: A crash near Volcano Road has closed one lane.
  • Charleston: A two-vehicle accident near Lee Street West and Pennsylvania Avenue North has blocked a lane. No injuries were reported.
  • Logan: Slick conditions caused an accident at 4019 Paint Creek Rd. The lane is blocked, and no injuries were reported.
  • Alum Creek (Corridor G South and Kesari Drive): A crash with injuries has closed a lane at the Lincoln County line.
  • Logan County: A tractor-trailer rollover on 22 Mine Rd. near Woodstock Road prompted dispatchers to gather additional information.
  • St. Albans: A crash involving a school bus has shut down a roadway near Walnut Street and Washington Avenue.
  • Braxton County: A vehicle fire on I-79 Southbound has closed both southbound lanes.
  • Berkeley County: The right lane on I-81 Northbound near mile marker 21 is closed due to a crash.
  • Eleanor: A two-vehicle crash with injuries near Charleston Road and Camelot Drive has closed Route 62 as of 6 a.m., dispatchers said.
