A young mother-of-three from County Cork has tragically passed away in the United States after becoming seriously ill while on vacation.
Seodhna Deasy was visiting Washington, D.C. last month when she suddenly fell sick and was rushed to a nearby hospital. She spent three weeks in intensive care before sadly passing away.
Her devastated family shared emotional tributes online, describing her as “the best mother” they could have asked for. One of her children posted a heartfelt message alongside a selfie, writing, “We’ll always love you forever. I’m absolutely heartbroken. I don’t know what we’ll do without you. Rest easy, my queen.”
To help bring Seodhna’s body home, her family launched a GoFundMe campaign, explaining that they wanted to give her “the dignified send-off she deserves.” The fundraiser message reads:
“Seodhna was a mother, daughter, sister, and friend to many. She will be hugely missed by all who knew and loved her. She was on holidays in America when she ended up needing urgent medical care and was rushed to the ICU. Her daughter Kayleigh and father Roger were by her bedside for three weeks until she unfortunately passed away.”
The campaign has already raised over €13,000, surpassing its €7,000 goal within days.
Funeral arrangements for Seodhna include a repose at Sullivan’s Funeral Home, Turners Cross, on Monday from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., followed by Requiem Mass on Tuesday (November 11) at Christ King Church, Turners Cross, and cremation at The Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy.
