There’s not much anticipation locally in the May 14 Primary Election.

Just one race is contested as challenger Joe Ott goes up against incumbent Ron Pfeifer for a seat on the Platte County Board of Supervisors District 4.

Two different directions

One moves on, the other waits.

The Archdiocese of Omaha’s decision to close Humphrey St. Francis and Lindsay Holy Family grades 7-12 at the end of the school year, and create a new school — Archangels Catholic High School — has resulted in two sides, those who have been tasked to carry out the decision by the Archdiocese and those who have appealed to the Vatican, asking the decision be investigated.

Democrat awarded by NPA

The Humphrey Democrat was recognized Saturday at the Nebraska Press Association Convention during the Awards Banquet in Lincoln.

In the Better Newspaper Contest, the Democrat placed first in the category of Sports Feature Writing for a story on Allison Weidner.

Second place was awarded for In-depth Writing for “Three schools, a lot of change,” and for an editorial on supporting local newspapers.

New beginning for MSM, Cooperative Market

A new beginning starts today.

Lindsay Cooperative Market, of Lindsay, and Main Street Market, of Humphrey, are teaming up starting today, May 1.

John Keller, owner MSM, is leasing the building and purchased the inventory and miscellaneous items.

The Lindsay Cooperative Market board leases the building to Keller.
